We finally went Camping....

July 8-14, 2010

Last we week went Camping, Thursday we stayed at Jordanelle State Park. It was beautiful. We only got to stay 1 night because they were full for the weekend. Emilee camped with us, Jason, Katie & the boys came up Friday morning for breakfast, then they went fishing, while the boys played in the water. Later in the day we moved to Wasatch Mountain State Park, where we stayed Friday night. Shadd, Steffanie & Kenidee came up and we all had dinner. We had a great time, It only would have been better if Ben, Ashlee & Emma could have been with us. Emilee, Mark & I camped over night, we got to enjoy a great Thunder and Lightening Storm, and it poured. Saturday on the way home Mark & I stopped at Deer Creek for about 4 hours, and Mark did some more fishing. I just hung out in the motorhome, and read...that's my kind of fishing.

Sunday & Monday we spent at home, we had to fix a fuel leak in the motorhome. We got that fixed, so on Tuesday we went camping with Jason & his family up to Payson Lake.
It was beautiful at the lake, everyone had a great time fishing, riding bikes, playing in the water, feeding & scaring away the prairie dogs. It was nice to just get away and relax. And today (July 15) it was back to life as usual.

It's finally finished...Yeah

We finally got the Motorhome ready to go camping. There are a few more things we've talked about doing, like finding some hidden space we can use for storage, there's a couple of spots that have some wasted space, but these can wait for another day. So here are the before and after pics. I really like the way it turned out.

the storage bench works great, it's just the right size for the odd camping stuff.

Replacing the fridge... in the motorhome

I forgot we still had to do this...thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal. So we went and picked up a new fridge for the motorhome this afternoon, came home and at my insistance decided we would take that old one out tonight. Well this is what we found...

a huge bird nest, it went clear up the sides of the fridge and over the top, we found some egg shells in there too. It was pretty disgusting and smelly.
We got the old fridge out, after we tore it apart to get it through the door. Tried to move the new fridge in and sit it off to the side while we finish cleaning out the fridge space, replace the vent and repair the ceiling, yep you guessed it...more water damage.
Well needless to say the new fridge is about a large 1/2" too big to get it through the door. So now the fridge is in the house, I guess we'll try taking the motorhome door off tomorrow, to get it in.
Oh, how I love this motorhome...........but I don't think there are any places we haven't seen or checked out now, nothing else could be hiding in there. Hopefully the next post will be the finished project...I'd like to go camping next week.

Motorhome nearing it's makeover completion...

I will be fine if I never remodel another motorhome in my lifetime... this project has been a lot of work and hours. I am finally down to blinds, cutains, and finishing recovering the couch and bed cushion, then maybe we can finally go camping.

Here's today's preview...

The new floor, goes through the entire motorhome.
I put up wall paper on several of the walls to lighten it up a l;ittle. It looks good. I got a good deal on the wall paper, I found it in the clearance bin at Wallpaper Warehouse and only paid $20 for 4 rolls, you can't beat that.
This is where the couch goes, I've got the new cushions ready to cover and then I can put the couch back together. We got new captains chairs for the front...you can see one here, a great improvement over the olds ones.
This is the back bed area it's ready for the newly covered matress to be put back in.
I like how the kitchen turned out we made new counter tops, put in some of the white tile board from the bathroom for a back splash, new faucett, I even replaced all the hardware on the cupboard doors and drawers. I even found a stray moose papertowel holder that looks great in the new kitchen.
And last but not least Jason and Mark made me this awesome storage bench, it's a little tall for sitting but it's main purpose is storage for the dutch ovens and some other camping equipment. We don't have very much storage for this kind of stuff. I think it's going to be perfect.

Well the next pictures will be of the finished project, hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day!

I wish my Dad was here to wish a Happy Father's Day to. Happy Father's Day Dad. I sure do miss you. It's been 5 long years since you were here to talk to... here to listen to me and give me your advice... here to play a game of monopoly with...you seemed to be the glue that held us all together. So many times in the last 5 years I've wished that you were still here,to share in all the things that have been happening in the family, to be my sounding board when things in my life seemed to be falling apart, and I know I could have come to you and just talking to you would have helped things not seem so rough, but I wouldn't have wanted you to continue to suffer with the cancer, and other health problems that seemed to come your way. So I guess this is the way it has to be, I know your in a much better place, but it doesn't make it any easier. I miss you tons. I know I'll see you again, but it seems like an eternity. I love You Dad!!!

I must be the Luckiest girl in the world to have you for a dad!!

Happy Father's Day Mark!
Thanks for being such a great dad to our children. I love you very much. Have a great Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to Jason, Shadd and Ben. I hope you'll always be the kind of dads your children can look up to. Happy Father's Day!

more Motorhome makeover...

Bathroom overhaul...
we had to gut out the whole bathroom, the back wall and ceiling had some major water damage. We tore off all the old paneling clear to the studs, and metal on the outside. We replaced the insulation and put up white tile board.

Jason helped me with the bathroom, we took out both windows before we put up the tile paneling, then we replaced the windows.

We also put white tile board in the shower.

We bought a new toilet, but will keep the sink and tub that were already in it. We're now ready for the new flooring, counter top, toilet install, curtains and a shelf across the back wall.

Mark and Shadd have been working on replacing the vent over the cab, unfortunately the rain, caused a little havoc with their new sealing job, and we had a flood on the bed over the cab...oops. Now we have a tarp covering most of the roof until it decides to quit raining, and it can be fixed. I told Mark we'll just take a tarp with us when we go camping and cover the motorhome, then we won't have to worry about leaks.

Kitchen Makeover....
I replaced the floor in the kitchen area clear down to the stud floor, the floor was very mushy and rotted. I pried all the old wood tiles up, then I had to chisel all the way around the cabinets in order to get the bad floor out. This was quite a job. Then we put in a new sub floor, and a new base floor for the new laminate that will go in the whole motorhome. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it... It will won't it?

now we're on to the kitchen. While I was trying to pull off wall paper I realized the back wall was soft...guess what more water damage. Well I got some of the wall paper off then had to leave it, well we've been getting a lot of rain and I went out yesterday morning to check on it and the back wall was leaking, looks like it's coming in through the stove fan vent, so we put some temporary caulking around it til we can pull it out and reseal it. We didn't find any damage in the cupboard above the vent so thats good, at least it's not coming in through the roof.

We're going to put up new paneling, wallpaper, and put in a new counter top. This has been a big project. We should have the kitchen put back together in a couple of days.

At least the rain is helping us find all the leaks.
